While we have worked very hard to update and restore nearly every single room in our home, the one place that has been completely left out of the fun is our hallway. It is still as bland and tired as the day we moved in nearly 5 years ago (actually it’s probably worse now!) which admittedly, doesn’t create the best first impression when guests walk through our door!

As a person who loves interiors, it’s hard to make a decision on what direction I want to go with my own hallway. I love so many different styles and creating something that will create a beautiful first impression as well as give guests into my home a taster of what’s to come is really important to me. It’s probably important to you too, right? I thought so!

One thing that will create a bit of wow factor is of course, the lighting. Creating ambiance is so important mostly because the majority of hallways don’t get a lot of natural light. So getting the lighting right is crucial. And while a simple pendant may be practical, why not get creative and get a little wow factor too?

So today, I thought we’d have a look at some great hallway lighting and perhaps we can both be a bit inspired!

Look 1: Full on Glamour

This first one is a definite favourite. While our inspiration image shows a similar piece in wood, I have to admit loving the glamour of the Puccini pendant in polished gold. It would make such an unusual statement during the day and cast the most beautiful shadows in the evening. Of course, my home has a bit of a glam look so this could fit right in.

Look 2: Elegant Classic

Our second option would be perfect in a period property with tall ceilings, don’t you think? The classic Italiano chandelier is timeless and using one in a hallway means it will never go out of style. There’s an air of elegance here and a classic timelessness which, when purchasing investment pieces, is certainly a reason to consider a style like this.

Look 3: Simple Multiplication

I love how the lantern lighting in our next example is repeated throughout this rather beautiful hallway – in fact, it’s the home of Kanye West and Kim Kardashian but we won’t hold that against it! You can get the look of this multi-million dollar property without having to hit the lottery by repeating your lighting within a narrow space. Having a few Villa Lanterns would certainly create that wow factor for an especially long hallway and will create beautiful pockets of light too.

Look 4: Contemporary Cool

Here’s another idea for a period property. The addition of very contemporary lighting creates a lovely juxtaposition between the two styles. These globe pendants would look equally great in a more modern property too and their simple design makes it easy to blend with nearly any style.

Look 5: Traditional Refinement

Our last lighting choice is another classic – the Lamberth lantern is a transitional look that would be stunning in a hallway with simply stylish décor. It’s a light that’s both welcoming and warm, exactly what we want our homes to be when inviting friends and family around.

I am still undecided what kind of lighting I’ll be going for although Look 1 is certainly tugging the heart strings! I’d love to know what kind of lighting you have in your own hallway. Any favourites of the ones I’ve chosen? Let me know in the comments.
